Family dairy farms are vanishing at an alarming pace, with a staggering 79% lost in just over three decades. Once, vibrant communities flourished with family farms dotting the landscape, but now many small towns are left with only a handful, if any, and face challenges in sustaining their residents. By uniting with local processors, we can preserve the remaining farms and ensure a stable future for our communities.

Accreditation Program

Always Family Farms is an accreditation program designed to unite producers, processors, and marketers with a shared goal of highlighting a product label that resonates with consumers. Producers will attest to their compliance with our family farm criteria, while processors will commit to keeping Always Family Farms products distinct from other milk in their facilities and using our label on these items. National Farmers Organization will collaborate with you to enhance awareness of the products adorned with the Always Family Farms label among consumers.

Reasons for Our Effort

Based on a consumer survey of 1,000 participants, an overwhelming majority of consumers express a strong preference for purchasing from family farms, with nearly 90 percent favoring milk and dairy products sourced from these farms. Additionally, four out of five consumers indicate a willingness to pay a premium for dairy products that originate from family farms, and half of those surveyed deem it essential for dairy products to carry verifiable, third-party labels confirming their family farm origins. The primary issue we face is that consumers have lost touch with the source of their milk. Our program aims to address this concern by certifying and labeling products to ensure they come from the family farms consumers trust and prefer.
